Paginated page canonicalises to page one
What this means
This is page two or later of a paginated series, and its rel=canonical names page one. Google has said explicitly that this is the wrong pattern: the deeper pages are not duplicates of the first one, so the canonical is ignored at best, and at worst every product or article that only appears past page one becomes undiscoverable through this route.
How to fix it
Give each paginated page a self-referencing canonical. If you want a single indexable URL for the whole series, publish a genuine view-all page and canonicalise every paginated page to that instead of to page one.
